Flyball Dog of the Year Award
Flyball Dog of the Year is a club competition that runs from the 1st September of one year through to the 31st August in the following year. Dogs are able to earn points for any BFA race that they compete in, be that singles, pairs, teams, multibreed or open. A dog is awarded 25 points for each leg run under 22s (or 5.5s in singles and 11s in pairs), 10 points for each leg timed between 22s and 26s (5.5s-6.5s for singles, 11s-13s for pairs) and finally 5 points for each leg between 26s and 30s (6.5s-7.5s for singles, 13s-15s for pairs). From summer 2009 a second award was introduced to recognise consistency in the dogs, which is awarded to the dog that has the highest percentage of winning legs. This is worked out over a minimum of 3 tournaments with the number of legs won being divided by the number of legs the dog raced in. Any dog in the club can work towards these awards, and the winning dog/handler each year will be awarded a trophy and a shield that needs to be returned the following year.
You are able to click on a dog's name to see all the times that dog has raced, or clicking on the handler's name will do show the data for all dogs that handler owns.
